what is georeferencing?

It is generally defined as the process of taking raster images.

Digital aerial images, satellite images, digital pictures, scanned maps are called the rasters.

Only taking digital image (raster) does not complete the process of georeferencing.

It is only complete when the required information/data is added along that particular image.

It means the pixel of the digital image is assigned with the particular geographic coordinates.

It explains to relate the aerial image of any particular area with the actual geographic location of that area.

Both aerial and ground view coordinates are equivalents.

Suppose we take an aerial image of a peak and for georeferencing, we give exact geographic location, information of that peak in order to relate the coordinate of both aerial view as well as ground view of that peak.

It can be proceed by using specialized software like ArcGIS and other remote sensing software.
