It is generally defined as the
process of taking raster images.
Digital aerial images, satellite
images, digital pictures, scanned maps are called the rasters.
Only taking digital image (raster)
does not complete the process of georeferencing.
It is only complete when the required
information/data is added along that particular image.
It means the pixel of the digital
image is assigned with the particular geographic coordinates.
It explains to relate the aerial
image of any particular area with the actual geographic location of that area.
Both aerial and ground view
coordinates are equivalents.
Suppose we take an aerial image of a
peak and for georeferencing, we give exact geographic location, information of
that peak in order to relate the coordinate of both aerial view as well as
ground view of that peak.
It can be proceed by using
specialized software like ArcGIS and other remote sensing software.
